“Göbek Düşmesi” Massage and Aftercare
How to prepare, what happens in the session and what to pay attention to afterwards.
Davut Aras

The “göbek düşmesi” massage is a traditional relaxation method focused on the abdomen. Important: no massage is done for severe, feverish or increasing abdominal pain — see a doctor first.
Before the session
- Finish eating at least 2–3 hours before.
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing.
- Tell us about possible pregnancy, recent surgery, hernias and medication.
During the session
You lie on your back with support under your knees. After a short breathing exercise we work with slow, wide clockwise circles around the navel and also relax the lower back and hips. We never use sudden pulls or hard pressure. The session takes about 45 minutes.
After the session
- Choose a light meal such as warm soup; avoid fizzy and very cold drinks.
- Do not lift heavy objects; rest if you can.
- In the following days eat fibre-rich food and take short walks.
When to see a doctor
If the pain increases, or fever, vomiting, blood in stool or a hard abdomen appear, or complaints do not settle within a few days, see a doctor without delay.
