Coming for a “yürek kalkması” session for the first time? Here is how a session works from start to finish, and what to keep in mind before and after.
1. A short conversation
We ask about your complaints, any doctor visits and the medication you use. Pregnancy, recent surgery, heart disease or blood thinners may change or rule out the session. If you describe chest pain, shortness of breath or feeling faint, we do not perform the session and refer you to a healthcare provider.
2. Preparation
Please do not come on a full stomach — a light meal at least two hours before is ideal. You lie comfortably on your back with a cushion under your knees.
3. Breathing, back and abdomen
We begin with a few minutes of slow breathing, then relax the back and shoulders, and continue with slow clockwise circles around the abdomen and gentle touches along the lower ribs. Pressure never causes pain; just tell us if anything is uncomfortable.
4. Rest
After about 45 minutes, you rest for a few minutes and drink some warm water. Many people feel relaxed, sleepy or hungry afterwards.
Afterwards
- Avoid heavy, fatty meals for the rest of the day.
- Drink plenty of water and rest if you can.
- Leave intense exercise and heavy lifting until the next day.
- Repeat the breathing exercise a few times a day.
The number of sessions differs from person to person; we discuss it together and never promise a fixed number or result.
